Roberto Carlos has retired from international football. He has been part of the Brasilian team for almost a decade and probably one of tbe best left flank players ever. But I also feel he was not performing that well in this world cup and to a great degree, the goal Brasil conceded against France was his fault since he did not mark Henry which he was supposed to. Sometimes I also felt he neglected his duties as a defensive player and were more prone to attack. I really think he made a wise decsion by quitting the international football which will give chance to someone new. I still think Branco was probably the best player in the left wing position but I hope Brasil finds someone who would be even more potent and deadly in the left flank than RC or Branco. Any comments or thoughts especially from Brasilian fans ?

Roberto Carlos has been in the Brazillian team for a long time [d-uh u meantioned it], anyway, yes it was his mistake not to mark henry during the Brazil - France match [which cost them the semifinals - such a shame], needless to say, he's human and capable of making mistakes, but that does not make him a bad player, he had his best years before this. it's time for him to leave the team humbly for the younger players.BUT never forget that he was one of the best of the world.

So cheers!

im an on and off brasil fan...basically, i root for brasil when argentina has already been eliminated. when argentina is going strong, sorry brasil...youre out!

anyway, i have my theories that the france vs brasil match was fixed....certain brasilian players were paid to relax during the game and not do their jobs as well as they usually do....that includes roberto carlos and ronaldinho. think about it....didnt it seem like some players just didnt try as hard???

There is hard to find someone else plays as good as or even better than Carlos did. Carlos is't only good - he's world class. He plays in his standard for a long time. His consistency is superb! But he definitely was below par in this World Cup.

He cannot be allowed to wear the colors of the Auriverdes again! He has represented his country well and has his place in Brasilian futbol history, but his time is done!

Let the strikers do their job.Defenders should just stay in their position and defend.

He stayed too long. Even at his best, he was average. Lola, you are nuts.
