some environmental laws are needed, but i honestly believe environmentalists and their loony ideas harm the country more than help...here's what cracks me up..they always scream we need different more friendly means of energy, etc..why the hell don't they invent it then! they recycle their aluminum foil, and pat themselves on the back, and whine about the big picture...maybe if they were smart, they would attack the problem at the roots...here it is greenies,-the population..cut our population and immediately results..less people, less energy needed, less pollution, less development...think about it and do something besides running around eating grass and passing judgment on us who want to benefit what America has to offer.

Please.
I too am not keen on the methods of energy and the by-products, but, while I finance, as a taxpayer, engineers and environmentalists to come up with a better way, I have no choice but to go to work, which requires driving the car.
You can do your part as best you can and still want a better way. Yes, if you can take a train, or bike, I think you should, but you shouldn't be judged harshly, because you have to take your car, and burn oil, even though you would rather not.
An "Anti-American" is one who doesn't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
An environmentalist cares about the planet, though too has no choice but to live in the one created by those before us, all the while though, the environmentalist is looking for a better way.
I would say that makes envionmentalists the purest form of American - always looking for a better way.
Considering we'll drink the clean water and breathe the clean air of their efforts, we should probably throw as much support their way as we possibly can.

They never tell us not to use fossil fuel or their by products. They just want us to use fossil fuel in such a manner that emissions of pollutants are minimised.Technologically this is possible, and more research is needed.
The problem is not just an American problem, so there is no point in calling them anti American. The nations of the world must unite and tackle this issue. Far from being hypocrites they are trying to save the world from an environmental disaster. This is not sensation mongering. The danger is very real.

Whoa! Have you ever missed the point!!
Caring about preseving the planet for our children does NOT mean being against the use of cars ( ever hear about non-leaded fuel?), or being against electricity ( ever hear of wind generators? Or water generators?) or drilling for oil!
And , hey, really sorry if you think looking for alternatives to the fossil fuels that will eventually run out is "hypocritical"..but I have to say that I very much doubt you've even bothered to read and learn anything about it.
And as for "anti-American"? Well, if we stick to your ideas and the time then eventually comes that America is on its knees financially because it is forced to purchase ALL its energy requirements from abroad..come back THEN and tell me who had the best intentions for the future of the nation.
We adapt and change , or our great-grandchildren all die together. Its a no brain choice, so you should be well equipped to make it.

We don't need to force them to do anything, all we need to do is abolish federal entitlement spending. If all the lazy trash in the country had to go to work every day, common sense would be more common, and we wouldn't elect such utter fools to the US Senate.

I know of environmentalists who live their lives in an environmental way. They minize their consumption of products that endanger the environment.
Mother Nature is suffering after centuries of our selfish consumption. Let's not abandon her.
