I've actually been thinking about this since you psted the question yesterday.
The only actor who could pull off Han can't do it: Ewan McGregor, second pick Ben Affleck, he's matured and can carry off that type of role pretty well.
None of the current stock of actresses could do Leia due to lack of charisma. Although truth be told Carrie Fisher was the weakest of all the actors in the first movie. So go for beauty.
Luke: Heath Ledger
ahh forget it. The original is a masterpiece. To try to recapture that magic would be impossible. But if it were to be done again the original concept of using unknowns, virtual unknowns and has beens was great. The key to Star Wars is that Its not about the acting, its all about the story.

To be honest - not very well...
The original cast of that movie is what still makes it the best of the entire saga for me anyway. The special effects are nothing compared to the chemistry of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher -
Darn - have been trying to think - will have to re-edit this later if you don't mind ....
Princess Leia - Keira Knightley
Josh Hartnett maybe?

Thinker you are thinking too much,that question is pure toilet and you know it,lol.
Some things are never meant to be touched or remade and Star Wars is one of them,i mean you would not remake The Great Escape with someone else as "The Cooler King" would you?No Why? because Steve McQueen will only ever be the "One Cooler King" nobody else could do it,it's unthinkable

Luke = Ian Somerhalder? Paul Walker? (although an unknown would be cool)
Leia = Scarlett Johansen
Han = Guy Pearce (Memento)
Lando = Denzel Washington
p.s. I would SO not root for a remake...there are too many horrible ones out there. Don't try to fix what's not broken!

No, while you could physicaly re-make the movie, people would not accept new actors. Star Wars is a cult classic, and changing it would only lead to mass revolt. I wouldn't want to try.

Why remake this movie? I mean the actors who played the characters in the film are part of pop culture. Can you imagine anyone else playing Han Solo besides Harrison Ford? I say just leave it alone.
