I'm trying to basically get a poll for a research project on how knowledgable the general public is of birth control options. Please respond honestly. And thank you so much for answering!

not having sex is one, of course.
condoms (both men and women versions) - only method other than abstinence that can prevent STDs
various pills (some of which can decrease how many periods the woman has per year)
IUD (kinda expensive comes in hormone and non-hormone versions)
patch (I'm allergic to adhesives so haven't tried it)
ring (didn't like)
rhythm method (not a good idea)
Diaphram
Vasectomy
Tubal Ligation

I think that's it.

Abstinence
Abortion (You asked for birth control methods, not for contraceptive methods, so this has to be included.)
Barrier devices (e.g., cervical cap or diaphragm)
Condoms
Hormone medications (e.g., birth control pills, Norplant, patches)
IUDs
Non-reproductive sexual behavior (e.g. oral sex)
Spermicides
Sterilization (hysterectomy, tubal ligation, vasectomy)

Also combinations of above (i.e., condoms with spermicides)

Of all these options, I suppose I "trust" the hormonal methods (birth control pills) the most, in that they're statistically the most effective However, they have side effects that we find objectionable. That's why my wife and I have used condoms for 24 years (with perfect success).
