It is politics. Many doctors who might support VBAC are not able to because their malpractice insurance will not allow them to. So some hospitals have adopted no VBAC policies. This is ILLEGAL to force a woman to submit to unwanted surgery. If you want a C-Section that's great, but you shouldn't be forced to have one. Find a care provider who is supportive of VBAC if you get pregnant again.
Check out these links that support women who choose to VBAC. http://www.ican-online.org/

And this one about the myth of "big" babies and :"small" pelvises.

Good luck to you.

just like most other people said....it is not that you can't have a vaginal birth if you decided to have another child it is that your muscles may have been weakened from the C-section.
There have been woman who has had the c-section and did just fine with a vag delivery after the c-section. It also depends on what type of C-section you had, (this depends on incision used and if it was an emergency surgery or not). Some Doctors and researchers believe C-sections are being used more than needed.

a c-section causes your uterus to weaken and increase your chances of having your uterus erupt during delivery. And it was once said that a woman could only have 3 c-sections safely but we all know that's not true anymore (rose kennedy had 6)There are things such as VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) They offer it as an alternative if you are having your second child. But they do caution there is a chance that your uterus could erupt. They monitor you while you are in labor and if your uterus or the baby show any signs of going under stress they will take you in for an emergency c-section.

I have had 5 C-sections and the doctors all told me the reason I could not go Vaginal was the risk of my uterus rupturing/tearing while trying to push. And that would cause internal bleeding. I still feel like I missed a great experience. Good luck.

Once they cut the muscles and the uterus the chances of tearing are higher when you try to have a vaginal delivery!!!
But and guess all OB/GYN's are different... i had a c-section for my first but had two vaginal deliveries after that my fourth was a c-section because of complications.. On your next appointment ask you Dr. he can better explain his reason why he suggested no more vaginal deliveries... Congratulations!!!!

Your stomach muscles are severed..If you couldn't push the first one I doubt you could push another one. Seriously your muscles are never the same again. It is permanantly numb. Dr's also worry about the scar tissue stretching and possibly rupturing the uterus. Some Dr's WILL allow you to try a vbac but they are in supervised situations. The uterus rupture thing scared me to death and the csection was easy that's how my second was born...

My friend had a vaginal delivery with her second baby, her first was a c-section. I think it depends on you and your doctor. It is called a VBAC Vaginal Birth After C-section. You can search for VBAC on the web and I am sure you will find more info about it.

Well, it depends on the way the cut, vertically or horisontally. If you have a vertical cut then you are more likely to rupture during labor that's why they recommend another c section. If you had a horisontal cut then you could have a vbac, but with lawsuits and things like that these days I think that doctors are just covering their a@#$#. I would just discuss it with your doctor when the time comes. if your baby is that big again though, I am afraid you will have to have another c section then.

The scar can open due to the heavy pressure while pushing. My doctor told me that I can have only two c-section deliveries and no more children, but I know some doctors say three. Luckily we are happy with just the two children, hopefully you are with your three. Good Luck

Too much strain on the old incision is what I've heard. With all the pressure on you uterus, I think pushing could weaking it and possibly tear the old scar open. I had a c-section and was told the same thing.
