Not likely. UK DVDs are region 2 and American DVDs are region 1. I have seen a handful of DVD players that play all regions but they are cheaper and do not have a high quality performance. They can be played in America if you also bring a DVD player from the UK.

DVDs bought in the United Kingdom cannot be played in America, unless the region of the DVD is Region 1.
It is the same for VHS, unfortunately.
There are nine DVD regions:
0 Informal term meaning "playable in all regions"
1 Bermuda, Canada, United States and U.S. territories
2 The Middle East, Western Europe, Central Europe, Egypt, Greenland, Japan, Lesotho, South Africa and Swaziland
3 Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea and Taiwan
4 Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Oceania, South America, Australia
5 The rest of Africa, Former Soviet Union, the Indian subcontinent, Mongolia, North Korea
6 Mainland China
7 Reserved for future use
8 International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, etc.

Any dvd can be played in any dvd player across the globe, its just depends on the reigon free setting. Because we're reigon 2 we have to change our settings to multi region so that we can play dvds from the usa, asia or even india. So at the end of the day it all depends on the actual player that you have rather than the dvd brought. Go on the net and search for cracks, but hopefully your player should already have the funtion in the setup part.

Most commercial DVDs are region-specific. Most DVD players can be chipped to make them any-region, so that they can play any DVD. You just find the exact model number of the player, and google it along with the words "multi region" or somesuch. Someone will have posted the sequence of key presses that you need to go through to unlock (or chip) it. It will be something fairly bizarre; you won't get there using the menus.
