I am a member of a rather esoteric branch of Masonry, American Co-Masonry. We admit women and men, of all races, from the age of 21 and older, of all religions, of good character, who wish to improve themselves and the world.

Freemasons have few secrets and most of the secrets are not secret; however, they would not even get you into a Lodge meeting. I am talking about signs and grips. Those are a hold over from a time when it was death to be a Freemason. BTW, did you know that Hitler had Freemasons killed? In Portugal fairly recently it was death to be a Freemason? You can read online and see pictures of signs and grips. You can even get passwords, sort of.

What is more important, I think, is that we do not generally broadcast what our rituals look like. That is for the benefit of our Brothers who are going to go through them. Ever read a book and then watch the movie? Right! You spent the entire time comparing the two.

The most important secret is what cannot be communicated in words. Want me to try? It is going to sound silly. The secret is that doing the rituals and trying to lead a Masonic life transforms the lead in your heart into gold. It is true alchemy. Told you.

And in case someone tells you "he is too low on the totem pole to know all the true secrets" I will grant you that; however, I know folks all the way up to the 33º including the Most Sovereign Grand Commander. These are fine folks. Of course, you may believe what outsiders tell you on the Internet.

If you wish more information, feel free to ask a Mason. We make no secret as to who we are.

We are only sworn to keep secret the ritual part of our meetings, nothing else.
If you wnat to know more, by all means join. All you have to do is believe in a Supreme Being and ask a Mason for a petition to join.

You don't seem to understand Catholicism. . . not that I am an expert. When a priest receives Holy Orders, he is in essence marrying the Church. Therefore, he is basically taking an oath that his service to God (and hence the Holy See) is above all else. Part of that vow is to protect the Church. It is not that priests have a vault with all sorts of dirty little secrets. It is that in the hierarchal structure of the Church, and the vow that priests, cardinals, etc, take to protect the institution.
