Some of my favorite quilt books are:
Start Quilting with Alex Anderson (my first quilting book - good for the basics)
"Quilts from The Quiltmaker's Gift" and "More Quilts from the Quiltmaker's Gift" - probably the best two books as far as providing detailed instructions, including multiple size quilts, and at least two completely different quilts for each block.
I also recommend checking out the magazine "Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting" - they have excellent instructions and a good variety of experience levels.
