I am in the depths of hell because we are separated but my wife can't stand the idea of getting a divorce. Perhaps she believes that she would lose so much standing in her community where she is at the top that she would lose it all. But she has started using some tactics which might destroy her reputation as a fine person.

I would say that it depends a lot on what cultural background she has. For latinas, in general, or Arabic women and perhaps Chinese women, a divorce is worth than death. For most women in the States they will get over it very quickly, and tears are mostly for a better bargaining position in the settlement.

However, many women from the States might prefer dying to going through a divorse. Anyway, she probably needs a lot of support.

It is difficult to see your whole world collapse just like after a terrible flood or a hurricane.

Some people recover while others never recover.

Absolutely not the end of the world. I havent ever been divorced..however if I was divorced.. I would not sit around in my own self inflicted pity. I would get out and enjoy life. Not saying that you are sitting around in self inflicted pity. ( knowing the majority of my friends who have been divorced do live in self pity for awhile). No life isnt over. A new chapter of your life has begun and although I am sure the divorce hurt you deeply and it would be painful I imagine.. there are more windows of opportunity out there and there is more chapters of you life to fulfil. Get out girlfriend and explore the world. Good luck and best wishes. Hold your head up, lots of people out there going through a divorce as well as you. Someone out there is waiting just for you. Get out of the house and find him.

Are you a divorced woman???

Even if the woman is the one who initiates the divorce, there is still a certain about of grieving.
When a man & woman set their feet on the path to becoming one, an interuption of that is cause for pain. It's just the way things are.

For some women it is and for others it's not. Some women do extremely well in rebuilding their lives and taking total control of themselves. They come and go as they please, do what they want, no one to answer to and have no problems supporting themselves. It's all about mind over matter and how strong willed they really are.
