Just reported on the news --- Can you believe that Anchor butter that I have had on my table since childhood is now to be banned for sale in England. The Germans object apparently to us eating butter and presumably cheese made in Australia. What are we doing? Are we really and truly going to refuse to buy produce from Australia where next South Africa, New Zealand, America???

This is another example of our country being dictated to by our European "friends and allies".It seems that we are always on the recieving end of thier crazy rules and regulations , for god's sake let us eat what we like and not what these morons in Brussels say we must eat,the sooner we are out of this corrupt organisation the better

Remember that they have vays of making you stop eating these foods! Oh dear the poor old Germans, perhaps they'll starve to death if we carry on buying products from our own countries, i.e. our Commonwealth of countries that have special ties and share the same Head of State as the U.K. namely Her Majesty The Queen. Oh I hope it not some foreign plot to steal our Queen!
Seriously, we British will do what we always do, we may be part of Europe but we are certainly not ruled by it, we'll just carry on as we always do and ignore their silly petty directives!. Rule Britannia! God save The Queen! Oh dear those Germans have got me worked up, its only a pack of butter!

It's all about quotas, protectionism and the politics of the market. Anchor butter, by the way is from New Zealand.

Yes, another typical EEC interference. Never mind about them stopping us from getting our food from (former) Commonwealth countries, why don't they stop us talking about the war. That could be another winner! In any case, if you can't get Anchor (which is overpriced anyway) try Asda's or Sainsbury's own brands - and I expect all the other s/markets have their own brands too, so the Germans can stuff theirs anyway - and any place, come to that!

I'm from the U.S.A. - since I've never had Anchor butter, I don't understand how it could threaten any country's economy. It must really be better butter! -RKO-
