The one that has all the features you want at a good price.

I like the iRiver Clix. It's decently priced at $200 and has 2GB capacity. It has a great, sleek design with many more features than the Nano. (FM radio, recording, etc.) Battery life is at 19 hours.

The best large capacity player is the Creative Zen Vision: M, HANDS-DOWN. It's customizable, and has a great screen along with a wide range of features and solid battery life.

Honorable mention goes to the Sandisk Sansa e200 series (I have one of these, too.) and the Toshiba Gigabeat S.

I LOVE the Zen line by creative. For one thing, they are cheaper than an ipod and have more storage. For instance, I got my 5GB Zen Neeon for $180, whereas I could have gotten a 2GB ipod nano for $200. They also have more variety in their choices. You can get a nano, a neeon, a micro, a zen microphoto, or whatever. You can also download the music from more sources, I use wal-mart because the songs are only $.88 as opposed to $.99 at itunes.

The best way is to listen to sample mp3s on different players yourself before making a purchase.

I like the newer Sony models. By the way some like ipod play mp4s

I have an ipod nano and I really like it, but if you did not have a cover for it it would REALLY scratch. Also, you have to charge it for almost 3 hours to get it fully charged, but it is a great mp3 player.

The one that has all the features you want that fits your budget.

I own a Creative Zen Vision M and a Creative Zen Microphoto (my wife's) and I really like both of them. Okay, I'd go as far as to say I love my ZVM.
