My neighbor uses my yard to go to her backyard instead of using her patio door. I don't know where to look for my legal rights.

Research your local, county or state laws for public right of way. Find out if you privately own only your own home's footprint or what property surrounding your home. Or look on your plat or survey to find out. Also find out from your building laws if you can construct a fence in your locale.

Start with your condo association - they'll be able to tell you if fencing is permitted, and if so, what type. If it's not allowed, go to your town and find out EXACTLY where your property line is and find out what you can do to enforce it.

Your neighbor may have told you that because your fence would inconvenience them. Too bad. (You know that if they get hurt crossing your yard, they won't take their lumps, they'll try to sue.)

Good luck!!
