Several times during the series and movies, Sesshoumaru shows a protective instinct towards Rin. It is clearly evident that she has given him something to protect, which is what Sesshomaru's father wanted his elder son to have. Though Sesshoumaru would never admit that he has any sort of care or concern for a lowly human though Sesshoumaru's attitude seems callous and cavalier, the truest portrayal of his relationship to Rin is shown in Episode 162: Together Forever With Lord Sesshoumaru.

When Sesshoumaro was injured, Rin brought him that she had to steal. She got beaten for it, but she never told him. Then, Rin was killed by wild wolves, but Sesshoumaro brought her back to life and likes her more than the little green dude (Jacken?).

well he brought rin back tto life and rin lost her familyy so she took him as her family and then he got attached i think at leeast
