I put in dry creek beds to route the water away.
All you need to do is widen the trenches you already have and then I put down some landscape fabric ( to keep the soil in place), the got river rocks ( the round looking ones) and placed them on top of the lansdcaping fabric.
When it rains I have beautiful little flowing creeks and when it is dry, they look beautiful as well ! One thing I did that I didn't find out about until later was to take a bit of concrete and glued a few of the rocks together where they seemed to be moving ! Actually it was just there people and animals had crossed and I got tired of putting the rocks back. This solved the problem.
Good Luck

Yes. Home Depot (or Lowe's) sells a 4-inch corrugated black plactic pipe just for that purpose. If you've already dug the trench, the pipe should be easy to lay. Each 8-foot section conveniently snaps together. Also, there are PVC drain grates, drainpipe adapters, and special outlets available inexpensively. It is also available in 100-foot lengths.

In our back yd, we dug a trench, put a little limestone, put PVC pipe with small holes drilled in it, more limestone, garden fabric (black, strong cloth that allows water but not dirt to pass), and an inch or so of dirt, then grass seed to grow grass. This will look good and drain, as long as the pipe has a slight downhill slope.
Ends of pipe are plugged.

After digging the trench, you should buy a flexible 5-8 in hose (for this kind of problem)buy it and put dirt on top with grass or liriope.
