I doubt that a digital copy would be any more valuable than any other type of copy. The original would likely become more valuable.

To answer the first part of your question:
A digital copy is just a fancy name for a print, stored on computer media. It is unlikely to increase significantly in value, partly because it will probably continue to be widely available.

To answer the second part of your question:
There is a widely believed fallacy that being "old" makes works of art more valuable. What really drives their value is the law of supply and demand. There are many ancient works of art that are currently available for mere pennies, simply because they are not in high demand. While works which are still comparatively new but were created by artists whose work is very much in demand, command higher prices.

My advice: if you are thinking about buying a work of art as an investment,

(1) buy something by an artist whose work has remained popular for a long period.
(2) buy something that you are confident you will enjoy seeing often.
(3) don't buy something because you hope it will increase in value.

Absolutely not. Anything digital can be copied and copied without wend without loss of quality, and without any difference betwen the first and the last. It is of as little value as any print, and will never go up.
