Firstly, the cheating scandals are in the Italian league, not related to the WC at all.
Second, though what happened on the field was regrettable, both he and Zidane made mistakes. And that's one Italian player, not the whole team.
Finally, people will talk about this that happened and that that happened, but at the end of the day the team with the most goals wins.
So, yes, they deserved to win, because they did. If someone else 'should' have, then they damn well should have... !

Give it up. You can talk from here to the moon , but all that will result is Italians laughing in your face.
And that's all it is : talk talk talk.
Forza Italia,
And how's this: I hope they go on to win the Euro and the 2010 cup!
To anyone who's put Italy down:
I pray that you have a glass of wine, and a nice panino sandwich stuffed with some top quality salami, provolone cheese, and roasted peppers. Finish that off with a good shot of espresso and some tiramisu.
Or, if you fancy a wonderful plate of lasagna, then by all means, enjoy enjoy enjoy.
Just don't trash talk Italy, and all that it stands for.
You respect me, and I respect you. It's a simple as that.
NB Per tutti gli Italiani, siamo i campioni del Mondo!

Opinions are like a**holes... everyone's got one. And it looks like we've got quite a few "opinions" here. Here's another:
Italy won the cup because they worked and played hard (as I'm sure the other teams did too). It had nothing to do with Materazzi or Zidane.
For those who believe that France would have won on penalty kicks if Zidane stayed on... first of all, we don't know that, secondly Trézéguet missed on the 2nd France kick so even if Zidane were to take a penalty kick for France they still would have missed one and Italy got all 5.
And for you who believe that Italy cheated or are "actors" or want to condemn the whole team for one player trash talking... why don't you try watching the rest of the World Cup games (i'm sure they're available to download or rent somewhere)... I've watched all of them, thanks to my VCR... you will see diving, swearing, trash talking, punches, kicks, headbutts, etc... along with beautiful soccer/football playing. Italy won because they played as a team. Excuses and "what if's" are not going to change anything.
*** Note to opaalvarez:
Get your facts straight. No Italian players are involved in the Italian Soccer Scandal. Just because some of the players on the Italian national team played for some of the teams involved means squat. Many other players on other countries national teams play for Italian teams too (including French players).
Stop being ignorant and try picking up a newspaper.

France certainly did not deserve it after what Zidane did to Materazzi. Anyway Trezeguet misfired. Italy buried all 5 penalties into the net. Fully deserved Champion of the World.

No, Italy definitely didn't deserve to win. They don't play fair, and anyone who says they do is just fooling themselves. It's clear they are dramatic actors, trash-talkers, and match-fixers. If they cheat in their own league teams, what is to prevent them from cheating in the World Cup? Germany is the team that deserved to win this year, because they played with integrity and class. It's a real disgrace to the World Cup that a cheating team like Italy won.

I don't thing so. Materazzi should have got the red card too if Zidane had to get. Not only that Zidane had to play and the linesmen were at fault for not seeing what Materazzi did.
If Italy deserved it or no, can't be a good suggestion but i feel so if Zidane was there he would have saved France and give France their needy 2nd title.
But no problem. .. . "Les Blues revenez"

Yes, Italy deserved it 100%. They played good football. They showed good teamwork. Canavarro captained well. Lippi is a genius - the 11 goals scored by the Italian team were scored by 10 players. Unheard of players shined at the tournament.
THIS is what football is all about.

The Italians did not deserve to win the final, France played better, and in spite of certain people saying that there was no difference in Zidane's exit etc, there was, as Ziddane from one moment to another would have scored, but Medina Cantalejo again, saved the italians

I'm gonna explain you the football rules :
who scores more goals, he wins.
No matter the ball possession, no matter the number of shots, no matter the corner kicks..no matter anything else, you just have to score.
If you shot 5146565161 times and you can't make goal, sorry You Go Home..
Italy scored more than any other team, so Italy deserves.

Italy should never been allowed in the world cup. Italy has been very lucky to reach the final game for all kinds of reasons.Very good comedians. They made their own luck,so they deserve it this time.
