i checked my fans for possible overheating and only one fan is running the small one and the larger one is not moving coud this be the problem or does the larger one run at certain times help me. I did a virus/spyware scan.

Sounds like a mouse in your computer. Do you use a mouse?

Overheating is number one reason for computers to suddenly just shut down. As fan are inexpensive, I would replace the larger one. Take it into a computer store and they should be able o march it for you. Better to spend $5 now then $150 to replace the system board.

If you have not added any hardware or software to your computer, the most likely, it is overheating. Usually, the small fan is located in the front of the case to draw air in, and the larger one in the back to draw air out. This is done to create airflow inside the case to keep the electronics, especially the processor from overheating.

The large one should be running to keep your CPU cool it is probably over heating

yes, if your fan isn't working, your PC could be overheating and shutting itself down.
