Iknow that there have been a few crossovers between the companies, but what if they merged for good in a kind of Ultimate way?

No and heres why ...

If they ever merged all the great second rate characters would be left behind cus all the writers would wanna work on the big named characters leaving all the other characters to that are great like Moon Knight, The Punisher, Nick Fury, Firestorm ,Martian The Manhunter, GreenArrow, Aquaman (ok soo he's not great but i'm trying to prove a point here) ...they would all leave the second character and books to work on Superman vs Silver surfer, Or team up Spidey and Bats...or they would come up with something retarded..and we would never get to see the B class characters shine ....

Definitely. A friend of mine & I often ponder what would happen if the 2 companies had to merge their respective universes into one. Not like what they did with Amalgam, but if they just combined the mythos, much like they did in some of the old 70s comics. Who would join Spider-Man's already extensive rogue's gallery from the DC universe? How would the government work? Would Wonder Woman be granted a certain level of SHIELD clearance due to her work with the U.N.? What would it be like to see Bruce Wayne invited to a party at the home of Tony Stark? Would Ghost Rider & Spectre, both being spirits of vengeance, ever team up for face a common foe? Would the Green Lantern Corps & the Nova Corps ever have to exchange prisoners? Would Galactus eat Mogo, possibly adding its power to his own? Lots of possibilities, huh?

a couple of people have already mentioned amalgam, which was the big merger a few years ago, and they won't do it again because the amalgam idea was such a big flop. they managed to pull the worst people from both dc and marvel to do the drawing and storylines. the actual merged characters were pretty good, but they never had the chance to be developed. i reckon if they did another, get better artists and story writers in, and really develop the characters out

they already merged once. It was a crossover called amalgam comics. Lasted for a few months. It totally sucked. Marvels bad drawings + DC's non-existent storylines = crap. Marvels witty storylines and DC's good art were nowhere to be seen.

I'm an avid comic fan and I'd follow the characters, even if Batman was fighting alongside Spiderman I'd still read the story to see how Bruce would handle Peter's more relaxed attitude to crime-fighting.

Having said that, I hope they don't combine, the market competition alone keeps the writers/artists trying to outdo each other!

it might be a bit hard because DC charaters are more powerful then Marvel Charaters, and so are the bad guys. the Marvel Charaters would have a hard time doing anything if superman is fighting bad guys in space that are 20 times his size. know what i mean?

Definitley!!! I love both of their comics, and if they added together it would largely increase their empire.
