Just try to find laptops that are no more than about a year and a half old with widescreen HD compatable monitors. HP is cheap, and has some great notebooks for watching DVDs.

Dell the inspiron series has high end graphics and there is a media direct button that will turn the computer on in dvd player mode

My vote is for a Mac.

Try playing DVD's on a Mac and a PC simultaneously. You'll be mesmerized with the clarity on a mac which you'd never be able to find on any other machine.

all laptops are basically the same, so I'd go for the one with the fastest processor, most memory, widest screen and clearest picture (best resolution)....

not Acer, not Hp or Gateway anything else is good! Dell's are pretty good!
