Nearly 10 animals around us have hooves on their feet. Why only these and why not others?

Either God ran out of hoofs or they evolved for terrain that required hoofs. "Hooves" is not a proper word, by the way.

Just 10? I drive past a farm every day and see cows and there are more then 10 cows out there. I think 10 is a small number.
