What a great question! In short, we are all humans, and we all are bias in some way or other! The best we can do is read every media report on the same thing we can find. I think you will find the “national” perspective when reporting an event will shade the reporting.
The closest thing I have seen is “raw” footage of an event. Even that can be bias! Many years ago we had a flood in my small city that made national and international news. My house was a couple of miles away from the flooded area, and I was high and dry. All my friends from Canada to Hawaii called me to see if I was OK. So, even pictures and video can leave the wrong impression.
Read as many sources as possible!

Yes ! If you want the real facts about any world event , you must read the Pyongyang Times. This North Korean paper is 100 % neutral on all issues. Its only interest is the see that the people of North Korea are well informed of all world events.
The wonderful President Kim Jong-il personally approves of each issue. So far only 231 editors have been shot ! You can also get pretty reliable news from any of the Muslims papers like the Kabul Star Ledger or the Tehran Times !

While we would like to thnk that it could be possible, the truth is that someone is paying for the paper, and when that happens they get the say in how the paper goes. This is why we have so many different news papers in one city, each group wants to have their say.

NPR and Moody Broadcasting Network from Chicago's Moody Bible Institute are the closest you're gonna get. They are broadcast all over the nation. Find good stations here:
http://www.npr.org and http://www.mbn.org . As for TV, you can forget it. Peace.
