Because we are selfish and self-centered babies in grown up bodies wanting what we want now, and damn the consequences.
No one is going to tell us what to do. When it feels good, do it. When it doesn't feel good anymore, get rid of it. Are we this shallow? You bet.

In most countries, divorce is not really viewed as an option, especially for women. In America, if a person is in a bad relationship, they have the freedom to leave that relationship.

This is only my opinion....Since woman have left the home to get a career, the home has gone to pot. Mom's have not bonded with their children. More women in the workplace means dad has more changes to hook up at work. There is no one at home being a parent (day care service is not a good substitute) Children are not valued. Grown ups are all into themselves and material objects are way too important in their lives.

Because we put more work into planning the wedding day than all the days that follow.
Not getting to know your partner well enough.
Thinking you can change your partner.
Because in our society we can have anything right now. We used to save up our money to buy things. Now we go right out and buy things. We get used to having anything we want right now, and it extends over into marriage.
