Someone on the offensive or defensive line - if you have talent elsewhere on the line, a stopgap solution's play can be raised by the talent of those around him, which isn't so much the case in other positions.

I would think that the easiest position to replace would be an inside defensive lineman. The punter wouldn't be to hard to replace for most teams either, but he could greatly affect field position. I agree that the Quarterback would usually be the hardest to replace even though a corner back would also be hard to replace since he has to have the experience & speed to keep up with some fast receivers.

I think running back is the easiest to replace, just look at the Denver Broncos. Quarterback is the most difficult to replace.

I think the front 3 on the defensive line are the easiest to replace, the quarter back is the hardest, if you have a running team them the running back. I also think a deep back is a hard position to replace too.

Running Backs. Did you see how the Packers had 3 or four injured running backs and then still found Samkon Gado. They are easy to replace because it is mainly the blockers that control how good the running backs do. Only once in a while is there a running back that seems like he doesn't need blockers and can just run around the defense, like Barry Sanders and Reggie Bush in college.

I played football and started on both offense and defense on the same team but I won't pretend to know the easiest position to replace. It depends on who you have as backups. If you have a good 2nd string QB and your starter goes out, the transition is easy. If you have a crappy backup at DE, it ain't gonna work. Depth is key. Your weakness will get exploited if a stiff comes in to play because a smart gameplan will be to pick on him.
