They walk free because some soft bastard in high office says they still have human rights, what a joke. As for the law here in the U.K. it's a total bloody insult to the victims and their families. These scum, as you say, should be put down. The same should apply to rapists.

The laws in Australia are changing. I'm not sure where u are but I think America. Here, the laws are being revamped re: pedophiles. They are seen by the law, after they finalise their incarceration period to be rehabilitated. However, if they do not (whilst they are in prison), fit the correct criteria that has been requested of them - they will not be released. They are seen to be in denial of their sexual acts: therefore will serve a longer sentence until they are mindful of their sin. Some will even have to do a period of home detention, or worse still - live within the confines of the prison without uniform but still under supervision of a P/O. Believe me, the criteria is becoming more strict and so it should.

Because the government still beleive they can be rehabilitated.
Ever tried stopping a man from fancying Blondes or Brunettes or looking at womens legs!?

Hanging is too good for them, they ought to put them in the middle of a room full of parents for 10 minutes with the doors locked then see if they walk free.

I'm no fan of pedophiles. But they don't exactly "walk free" to the extent they used to. The noose has tightened on their lifestyle. Now they have to be registered sex offenders, etc., which basically means they can't be near schools, parks, they can't travel, and they have to keep the police informed of their whereabouts. Once other criminals have "served their time" their "punishment" is over, but that's not true for pedophiles. Personally, I disagree with lethal injection. We should have public hangings like in the good ol' days for these people.

Your answer of death to pedophiles does not work. The death penalty/harsher sentences increases rates of reoffending. Any region that has the death penalty has higher proportions of recidivism than countries that do not. So the only answer is treatment - which is EFFECTIVE. The research is very clear.
On aside note, I don't think people understand the term pedophile and they throw it around. Not all child molesters are pedophiles - they are two different things. CM describes behavior whereas, pedophilia describes a preferential interest.

Unitl laws are changed once they have completed a prison sentence they cannot be held. Megan's law compels registration of sex affenders and notification they are in the neighborhood. This is a start. The shots to reduce sex drive are not a full answer, since rape is about domination more than sex.

No, they don't walk free. I understand that they are levied a fee of 23 cents for each step that they take after conviction (walking fee). They should be given a shot and be put out of their misery, they can't and wont be reprogrammed, rehabilitated or change their ways.

Steal a teabag and be imprisoned, be a paedophile and stay free to re-offend, thats the message this country's judicial system gives, great huh........... not

John H: I'm just wondering if you would feel the same if your child was a victim of a paedophile

Because we quite wisely do not have a death penalty in the UK or Europe.

These people may be mentally sick and in need of treatment and in many cases should probably remain in custody for the remainder of their lives but we should not execute them.
