I doubt it. Most vets go into animal medicine because they love animals.

Veterinarians are good people trying to help animals unfortunately too many dopey owners dont spay or neuter so vets are forced to euthanize surplus numbers
the people who are sadists are the ones who work in pet stores - since pet stores exploit pets for profit and support the ultra cruel industry of puppy mills
anyone who buys from a pet store is also a sadist
anyone who has bought a puppy from a pet store is a sadist since they have condemed other dogs to live in torture by supporting this industry

No, vets provide a service. They try to do the best they can for an animal. Read James Harriot, his books: All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Things Wise and Wonderful and The Lord God Made Them All. If these don't convince you then nothing will.
