The Who is the name of the band you are thinking of. There are some old vintage videos of them smashing guitars and drums. They have some awesome tunes if you're into Classic Rock.

I must be getting old, I can't believe anyone younger than I that hasn't heard of The Who...
Go rent "Tommy" or "Quadraphenia", two rock operas (kind of a movie version of an MTV video for those of you under 30).
You may have heard of "Won't Get Fooled Again" or "My Generation", they were truely one of the iconic bands in the 60's, 70's, and even into the 80's...
(Not to be confused with the band, "The Guess Who" who were also around in the 60's and 70's... [most famous song "American Woman"])
