Supposed to be forty years ahead of it's time. Trout mask replica by Capt. Beef Heat seems strange, so is this album miles apart and will ''Freak Out'' be more comfortable on the ear than ''Trout mask replica''?

Since you have this album, you do realize that it was produced by Zappa. Freak out is MUCH easier on the ears than Trout Mask and easier to understand.
If you are looking for a good Beefheart album, check out Blue Jeans and Moonbeams. This one is also much easier on the ears.

No. The best Zappa album ever is "Broadway The Hard Way"...
starting with "Elvis Has Just Left The Building"

It was avant garde in it's time. Frank zappa was very experimental and eclectic in his compositions. I liked it whqen it was new and I still like it. Especially "Who Are The Brain Police"
