Porbably the best graphic novel to appear in the past couple of decades is "Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller. I would read a few of the Batman origin collections, first, so you can understand what Miller is paying homage and expanding on. But if you like Batman, this is a brilliant story, with pathos, great art, and a few surprises.

For woman leads, i could propose various the affection & Rockets compilations from Los Bros. Hernandez. There are sooo many to make a call from and the characters are so numerous, you may desire to ask somebody in a comedian shop the place to initiate- yet i think of the books "Chester sq." and "Whoa Nellie" could be examine with none background. Of classic image novels, i could say Kingdom Come with the aid of Alex Ross, The dark Knight Returns with the aid of Frank Miller, Black Widow, and once you're partial to the X-adult men, outstanding X-adult men with the aid of Joss Whedon.
