It started 1948, so you better leave Carter and Clinton out of it .

Sorry, as much as I would love to pin this on Carter and Clinton, its not their fault either. This clash has been going on since the UN chose a deserted swampy desolate area for the Jews to resettle. The Jews built a nation, the Arabs are jealous. The fighting began. Carter and and Clinton actually tried to get them together for peace talks. Arafat rejected every proposal that was presented. That was pretty much when the US and most of the world came to the conclusion that the Palestinians were led by a terrorist and you can't negotiate with terrorist.

Some say it started when Abraham threw out Absolom...

I think the modern mess is due more to the way the British Empire dissolved, leaving messes behind it throughout the world... Look at almost everywhere Britain bailed out of quickly after WWII: Palestine, India/Pakistan/Bangladesh, South African, Rhodesia, the list goes on... they just cut and ran and didn't have a good plan for people that they had previoulsly subjected to colonization.

Your lack of history or information is kinda sad.

It has a very very long history..........the current modern problems are in direct result to the post colonial era's following WW 2 and the creation of Israel as a home state.

It is also the result of blow back during the Cold war where we trained countries to fight Russia
and created OSama....thanks reagan.

or sided with Secular Dictaroships to fight Iran
created Sadam
thanks reagan and bush 1.

Your blanket statement about the region also indicates you have little background on the history.........

To sum it all up.........oil........U.S in middle east.

Carter and Clinton should be recognized for the wars they tried to prevent, for the lives they tried to save through diplomacy......whether you feel the effects in the long run help or hampered can be debated.......

but what we know is...
Carter brokered peace between Israel and Eygpt, and Clinton came very close to Palastine and Israel....

Bush stopped all together to create peace between Israel and Palastine. remember?

Bush's adminstration wanted to gain strategic oil and bases in Iraq.

During the 90's people who would become members of the Bush administration wrote a letter to Clinton stating that he should invade and that it would take another Pearl Harbor to begin.......
look up Project for the New american Century......

I could go on........

The Middle East has been in conflict since the beginning of time. It was recorded in the earliest of Middle Eastern history books, and in The Bible.
That part of the world will always be at war and it's unfortunate that we and the rest of the world have to be involved.

Technically, the English started the mess in Palestine by promising both the Palestinians and the Jews that land in exchange for help in WW2.
