HE is no different from the previous leader s of Israel, and more importantly, their attrocities are finace by the US. Tax payer.
"basically the current stage of what's going on -- there's a lot more -- begins with the Hamas election, back the end of January. Israel and the United States at once announced that they were going to punish the people of Palestine for voting the wrong way in a free election. And the punishment has been severe.
At the same time, it's partly in Gaza, and sort of hidden in a way, but even more extreme in the West Bank, where Olmert announced his annexation program, what’s euphemistically called “convergence” and described here often as a “withdrawal,” but in fact it’s a formalization of the program of annexing the valuable lands, most of the resources, including water, of the West Bank and cantonizing the rest and imprisoning it, since he also announced that Israel would take over the Jordan Valley. Well, that proceeds without extreme violence or nothing much said about it.
Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.
The next stage was Hezbollah's abduction of two Israeli soldiers, they say on the border. Their official reason for this is that they are aiming for prisoner release. There are a few, nobody knows how many. Officially, there are three Lebanese prisoners in Israel. There's allegedly a couple hundred people missing. Who knows where they are?
But the real reason, I think it's generally agreed by analysts, is that -- I’ll read from the Financial Times, which happens to be right in front of me. “The timing and scale of its attack suggest it was partly intended to reduce the pressure on Palestinians by forcing Israel to fight on two fronts simultaneously.” David Hearst, who knows this area well, describes it, I think this morning, as a display of solidarity with suffering people, the clinching impulse.
It's a very -- mind you -- very irresponsible act. It subjects Lebanese to possible -- certainly to plenty of terror and possible extreme disaster. Whether it can achieve any result, either in the secondary question of freeing prisoners or the primary question of some form of solidarity with the people of Gaza, I hope so, but I wouldn't rank the probabilities very high."

I heartily agree, and I thank the person who answered before me for the good, thorough answer he gave, as he saved me from having to put all of that down, and also offered several bits of information of which I was unaware.
The thing that frightens me most is that the US is so committed to supporting Israel, even when the Israeli government is so clearly in the wrong. People where I live in the US are largely ignorant of the facts of what is going on with the Israelis and the Palestinians, including the historical basis for the problems, and every single day I hear people talking about how the US should help Israel out by giving them even better weapons to use against the Palestinians.
The leader of my country (I cannot even bring myself to call Bush my president) gives a lot of lip service to fighting terrorism, yet he and his administration continue to offer wholehearted support to a nation that routinely terrorizes innocent people. Am I the only American that sees the hypocrisy in that?

Wow...i'm completely stunned with the aid of Olmert...freeing money for Palestine, freeing Fatah participants...various "goodwill gestures"...nicely what Mr Olmert forgets to declare is that the money that Israel releases belong to the PA and that as quickly as Hamas replace into elected Israel illegally withhold those money and now they are only giving them back...and likewise i'm particularly useful that those Fatah participants have been in all possibility illegally detained with the aid of the Israeli forces and have been by no potential accused of something...So sure,i think of it is a sturdy concept...

Excuse me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, it was Hezbollah that sneaked across the boarder in a raid attack, killed a few soldiers, and kidnapped these 2 soliders! What do you want to happen if some Mexicians sneaked across our border lines, -hmmm, they do anyway- killed a few of our soldiers, and kidnapped some as well! Do you think Bush would just sit back and say - hahaha
good one, our fellow Mexicanos! Damn it- why is it every time Israel tries to defend itself, everyone is FKing criticial,
BESIDES - DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE IN ISRAEL? hAVE YOU THOUGHT OF THOSE 22,000 FAMILIES THAT ARE LIVING IN SHELTERS NOW? THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR WHAT IS THEIRS- THEIR SOLDIERS, AND PEACE!
DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT HEZBOLLAH IS?????????
Let me explain it to you- it is a TERRRIOST GROUP!
Designed to destroy Israel- hezbollah is NOT a country of any kind! And Lebonon is harboring a terriost group! So, that, my friend, is why ISRAEL IS DEFENDING ITSELF! YOU'VE GOT TO BE DUMB AND COMPLETELY STUPID- IF YOU THINK pRIME MINISTER EHUD OLMART WILL JUST SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR MORE HEZBOLLAH TERRIOSTS TO INVADE HIS COUNTRY AND KIDNAPPE MORE SOLDIERS, AND TO PLANT SUICIDE BOMBERS AROUND HIS COUNTRY TO IGNITE TERROR AMONG HIS PEOPLE! He's defending his country from a TERRIOST GROUP that is trying to destroy his country! HE'S TRYING TO SAVE HIS SOLDIERS FROM HIS ARMY! Gd- I hope you never become a President of a country or anything- Would you have been brave like that and fight back a group who are ANIMALS?????? THESE PEOPLE AREN'T A COUNTRY, THEY DON'T HAVE TIES WITH THE U.N.
THEY DON'T HAVE WAR REGULATIONS!
=====A OPEN WAR==== THEY CALL IT! They are foolish people, acting solely for terriosim, anti Israel.
They are a terriost group - & - Israel has every Gd Damn right
