I don't think it is.
Such a person is a mechanic if they need another shorter label.

The problem is that this country does not recognise engineering as the intellectual pursuit it is.

The country is run by lawyers and art historians who have no idea what engineering is, but engineers rank the same as surgeons.

When asked, in the course of a survey, my husband's occupation , I said engineer and saw the interviewer tick the box for semi-skilled. I had to point out that he is not a mechanic or fitter and she should tick the professional box.
The best way to explain engineering to the igonrant is in three words.....Isambard Kingdom Brunel

That is true! I'm an RN. That would be insane.

Repair men live by a much lower standard of ethics. They can claim they INVENTED the KENMORE and get away with it.

They will call themselves engineers because that sounds more glamorous.

You have to attend atleast 4 to 6 years of college to be an engineer of ANYTHING.

Engineers DESIGN products.

I guess they are just hoping we're dumb enough, not to know that.

No, she wouldn't.A washing machine repair man is not entitled to call himself an engineer as he is only a domestic fabric rotaryappliance maintenance operative.

Its entirely acceptable, if the repairman has a degree in engineering or drives a train in his spare time.

...and a domestic technician does more than sterilize dirty laundry, dishes, floors, windows, and ovens!? It means less about home and more about a inaccurate and stupid title. Take a number and get in line!

in my opinion, they are not , but what can we do? ... NOTHING! for ie. some people call me an " artist" just for taking art classes and know how to draw.. in my point of view, to get the tittle of "artist" a person should get a degree.

just let them think whatever they want, it is not going to kill you
