When you can afford it. Really it's much better that way.

It depends on how mature you are & how much support you have.
I left home when I was 17.
My father was a creep, but my mother was an angel!
I talked to mum on the phone every day, so I still had my 'home' fix.
Everyone said I'd move back home within 6-months. I was a good girl, but headstrong & wouldn't be challenged. I proved everyone wrong, and haven't regretted a day of it!
It's tough at that age though, so make sure you have plenty of mature support..not just the support of your mates!

some factors to consider first, are you able a ready to work to provide for all of your needs, do you have a nice lump some saved up for the big move, first month, deposit, hookup fees, these all add up fast when moving. May want to consider a roommate, or other housing options, i moved out of my parents house when i was 17, i was a nanny for a divorced family of three, two boys and one girl, part of my pay was room and board.
while in college i had a roommate that split the bills of a house we were renting, be sure to have both of your names on the lease to cover your butt if it all goes sour. Lots of factors to consider, never make a decision in hast, great luck to you in what ever you decide to do.

For most people, it's when you're old enough to know the value of money (so you don't spend yourself into a deep hole, not that more than "enough" money is all that important) and to be truly responsible for yourself (so you don't do something so dumb you ruin the rest of your life).
For a few unlucky people, home is a threatening environment, and they need to leave if they're being damaged ... hopefully with some good friends to help.

I moved out at 18, and I kind of regret it. Its hard being young, full time working college students who have to attend at night struggling to make ends meet.

when ur 21-23 years old. that's around the time when people are close to finishing their college career, so it's good to move out and start experiencing the real life then.
