Very simple: Because the current US administration does not like the idea of someone else in the Middle East having access to nuclear power, especially when that someone is not a friend of the Bush family.
Bullies are essentially cowards, and they always pick only those targets towards they feel superior. Not that they really are superior, but they think they are. And as soon as a bully realises that his chosen victim is in fact strong, he will back off.

Theyre not being bullied, Iran has been fostering a clandestine nuclear program for years now. Thier president seemed interested in diplomatic resolution to thier violation of international treaty when the world found out about this program from the Russian government. Instead of taking the peace incentives from the European Union, which included among other things a light water reactor of the type not used for storage or maintenance of weapons, they turned it down. Repeatedly. If thier program was really about bringing electricity to the country and not more sinister as they said. Why would they turn it down? More than so, why do they need until the end of the summer to answer on an incentives package from the US. You can call a cat a fish, but it still wont swim if you take my meaning.

Because people like George Bush and Tony Blair are a bunch of idiots.
The only fair way to get Iran to disarm (if they are in fact arms) is for the rest of the world to. If I was Iran I wouldn't, knowing full well what America has stored away. I'd want to defend myself.
It's funny though that the whole world seems very scared to do anything about North Korea, even though they are testing weapons that 'may' reach Alaska.
I also find it funny what George Dubbya and Tony have said about the developing situation in Lebenon. Apparently it's Iran and Syria's fault! It can't be Isreal who blew up a poor kids entire family while they were having a day at the beach.
Or the fact that Isreal occupied part of Lebenon for so many years, or that they are occupying Palestine!
As a note, did you know that Germany has no nuclear weapons?

Plain and simple, this is a power struggle. It's not about right and wrong, it's about controlling our enemies and making sure our interests are preserved. The United States is even more involved in military actions than Iran. Who would you trust more with a nuke? Why must the United States dictate who has nukes and who shouldn't? How the hell do we even know Iran is really pursuing nuclear weapons? I read a letter from the Iranian president to the US and he sounded like a deer in the headlights. I think the US is trying to railroad him personally. Not unusual these days.
This is all lunacy anyways, I stopped worrying about it a long time ago. Good and evil, ha, that's like the tooth fairy and Santa Claus...it's more like bully and the bullied...end of story.

the USA of a hasn't used its nuclear weapons in over 60 years, so it has a shown checklist of restraint. besides, the USA of a hasn't threatened to erase any of its friends from the internet internet site of time. Iran is typically becoming to be provocations against all persons indoors form. Iran is likewise brutally repressing dissent between its very own voters; their head of state has promised to instruct no mercy to dissenters OR THEIR families. that may not a common regime. For purposes of potential production, and for purposes of convalescing the financial gadget, Iran needs refineries, no longer nuclear potential flora, no be counted if it is on any pastime to all persons. the only reason the government prefers nuclear flora is that those could be a source of nuclear weaponry.

Iran is ruled by religious fundamentalists and have no any tradition of democracy whatsoever. Nuclear power in such hands... Religious lunatics are dangerous. Look what Christian right does here (in US) once they got power. The son of a president right away makes aggression into country which is hell knows where (and most citizen cannot find it on map). And that's US. Think what religious Iraq may do.

Bush believes it is in the axis of terror along with North Korea and Iraq. Iran are still hated by the Americans for the Embassy siege in late 70s and 80s.

Because Iran wants to destabilize the middle east, it won't stop at nuclear energy, nuclear weapons in the hands of extremists will bring about Armageddon
