Sadly, it is human nature. That has been proven time and time again since we developed/arrived here, every race, evey religion, every grouping has been enslaved, tortured or done the same, for he most part, to their own people. And we call ourselves the "chosen" ones, the "civilized" ones... what a bunch of BS! Ok, enough ranting... All we can really do, is be the best person (even person is a little arrogant, isn't it?) we can, do what we feel in our hearts to be right, even if mocked and looked down upon, and cherish those we love ( and try to do the same for those we done't) all that we can while we are here. If everyone did the same... wow, "what a world it could be"
Blessed be!

Because we all like our own space to much, we like our own opinions, we like our own style, we like people who resemble us only, we like our own music, hairstyles, we like our own money, we won't work fairly with others that are different from us, we like our own beauty (which means beauty of other cultures is not), we like our own lies (because we can't admit the truth), we are afraid, selfish, greedy, racists, and unlovable (because we only love ourselves).
If we aren't all of those thing individually - we are either members of the oppressed group or the oppressers (and they ain't giving up nothing - no matter how much suffering is going on)! And as much as we say we want to get along - we really don't - we just say that in hopes that others will believe us and we can feel better about ourselves!
The truth is in what you do - not what you say! So, I would say the sayers are winning over the doers - always have and always will!

Bible taught us not to do these vile things to each other, it worked for a while, now we need something new to replace to get us on the right track soon. Bush is a believer in God but he is allowed into destroying our world. I have no doubt that we will always have his kind amongst the world society, it's up to us to weed it out not just with the lip service.

You should read The Human Zoo by Desmond Morris and A History of True Crime by Colin Wilson. Those will tell you why we can't live together.

GREED for more and more, mostly by already rich and powerful nations. If they wanted things sorted they would, but its not in their interests to do so. I mean, who would they sell their weapons to in order to make profit - not so democratic as they claim... And humans are obviously thick to realise it doesn't pay to fight. Humans will exterminate themselves although they are classed as the most advanced species. What a paradox.

Because evolutionary forces make us compete for power, and we have not yet learned enough morality to overcome our animal instincts.
There are too many of us competing for too few resources, which means that we cannot get away from people more powerful than us.

Because we all have a need not to deal with stupid people and some times the best way not to deal with them is to eliminate the problem.

if ever life would be that way then there would be no change since all will be in perfect order. Don't try to be an absolutist since it will never be possible...

power corrupts. that's why we have a democracy here in America. consider some of the countries where they do not have democracies and their leaders have pretty much complete power...
