Blue whale: largest animal ever to live, feeds off of shrimp, krill, and plankton, filtering water by thrusting water through its baleen with its tongue, then licks baleen clean.
Carnivory is not a function of whether or not an animal hunts, but merely that it consumes flesh rather than plant matter.
Brad I: Sperm whales don't eat plankton, they have tteth and feed on large fish and squid.

Kelly C is correct. The largest critter generally considered a carnivore (rather than a filter feeder that happens to suck up animals like a blue whale) is the sperm whale (Physeter catadon). They can reach 20 m in length, and 55 tonnes in weight.
The largest living land carnivore is the polar bear (Ursus maritimus), and the largest carnivorous land mammal ever was Andrewsarchus as Kelly C said.
Depending on the classification (some do not include the Pinnepeds in Carnivora, but most do), the largest living member of the mammalian order Carnivora is the Southern elephant seal (Mirounga leonina) - up to 6.5 m long and 4 tonnes in weight.
The largest known land carnivore ever was the recently described Mapusaurus, at 12.5 m long and 5 tonnes in weight. It looks as though it might be slightly larger than Spinosaurus, Gigantosaurus and the famous T. rex.
There is an ichthyosaur, Shonisaurus sikanniensis, that may have reached 21 m in length, rivalling the sperm whale in size, but evidence indicates that Shonisaurus probably was a suction filter feeder much like today's beaked whales, and so wouldn't count as a 'carnivore'.

The Polar bear is the largest living land carnivore
Largest ocean carnivores..... Sperm whale is the largest toothed whale in the world it eats squid, octopus and demersal rays and is considered a carnivore. The Blue whale can also be considered as the largest carnivore however it doesnt really hunt in the conventional way although it does eat meat it merely strains them from the water with its baleen and feeds exclusively on Krill. The Sperm whale actually eats many species of cephalopods, and has to hunt and attack its prey which to me makes it more of a predatory carnivore and so more deserving of the title of largest carnivore in the ocean.
Andrewsarchus was the largest carnivorous land mammal ever.Andrewsarchus had a skull of about 83cm, which would make it about 1.8m high and 5m long - the largest meat-eating land mammal ever.(now extinct)

I just want to point out that couple people already answered this correctly. The Blue Whale is not only the largest animal on earth, it is the largest carnivore. The prey is small krill.

The Blue Whale of course. It feeds on little shrimp-like plankton called krill which are technically meat and therefore it's a carnivore.

whale is not a carnivore. generally carnivore are not that big. In todays terms lions on land and sharks on sea would be the huge carnivore...in prehistoric times it would be some dinasore ... may be T-Rex...

the main intimidating land carnivore is in all probability the ratel, or honey badger. It weighs between 12-30 lbs. and has been prevalent topersistent leopards or perhaps single lionesses from their kills.
