Why is it that our government was so adamant, and in such a rush to oust Hussein because they "thought" he had WMD's, but now that they "know" that North Korea is actively pursuing them their attitude is much more docile? And why do I read about all the steps Iran and North Korea have to take to aquire nuclear weapons but I don't recall anything like that before the war in Iraq?

I got this from Wikipedia:
Following the successful overthrow of the Taliban, the U.S. also promoted urgent action in Iraq, stating that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and that in the post 9-11 world it was too dangerous to allow unstable regimes to possess weapons that could "potentially fall into the hands of terrorists."

I would appreciate it if supporters of President Bush would respond. I seem to hear a lot more of the opposite side of Bush's policy on this.

Okay, read your own post, especially where you wrote, "it was too dangerous to allow unstable regimes to possess weapons that could potentially fall into the hands of terrorists."

North Korea may have a nutcase for a leader, but overall it is a very stable government. There are no Islamic Jihadists capable of carrying out an operation to seize a North Korean nuclear bomb. North Korea has nothing to gain by bombing western interests, and everything to gain from just making noise and being a threat. Kim Il Johng is eccentric, but not insane. He can be managed. Also, there is no way to successfully attack North Korea without killing millions of people. No one wants another war on the Korean pennensula.

Iraq and Iran, however are cauldrons of instability, and you never know who will be in power tomorrow. The Jihadists are insane and would certainly launch a nuclear weapon at Israel or the US at their first chance. Iran is more stable than Saddam, but their current leader is a terrorist, and how can we trust him?

It's all politics and strategy among other things. Attacking Iran or North Korea blindly could cause trouble since they are very close with Russia and China. But I think the U.N. just voting on something today, not sure what is was exactly, but it had to do with North Korea and how NK made a mistake. Everyone voted the same way.

i think of Bush became into duped into believing that the weapons of mass destruction have been there via the CIA besides as different orginizations, now he and all people else is gun shy. Election campaigns would be beginning up quickly and the Republicans do no longer choose to open yet another can of worms. yet another factor is, i think of all people is afraid to do something to Korea in case China, who has and is an prompt supporter of the North Koreans ought to connect in the combat. i understand that the clarification that went in Iraq became into no longer for oil. the U. S. does not import oil from Iraq. various the Iraqi oil is going to China.

Two reasons:

First, we already fought a long and difficult war against the North Koreans (and Chinese) and no one is looking forward to doing that again.

Second, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria are all pansy-*** pushovers compared to the nuclear-bomb toting North Koreans. The radical Islamists in those places are throwing sticks and stones compared to what the Koreans would do.

sorry i'm anti-bush, i thought i'd answer anyway.
i assume it's because north korea actually has the potential to carry out attacks against us, where as iran could only attack any interests we might have in the surround in area.
also we are partially responsible for the mess in iran and iraq.
