Take a deep breath..not all lumps are cancerous..you might have a cyst or fatty tumor which not cancer..The physician will do a manual exam (feel with his hands on softness, moving it around, etc) he may ask for a chest xray..and last may try to put a needle in the lump to express fluid..but ask alot of questions and the physician will get the answers and reassurance you need..god bless you.

Go to the doctor. Men do get breast cancer. You need to be checked.
He will check the lump and likely send you to bet a mammogram test.
They do this test also for men. If you don't like the mammogram procedure, you can only imagine how much we women like it!

Then if there is still even the slightest question of what it is. They sometimes do a lumpectomy or a biopsy.
As long as it's benign. It's no big deal. If it were to be malignant cancer. Then you want to know yesterday so that you can keep it from spreading.

The sooner the better. The danger is in not knowing.

God Bless You,

Your gp if concerned will refer you to a specialist. They may then do a biopsy as I'm not sure if you can do a mammogram on males. The biopsy involves the area being numbed and a small needle being inserted into the lump to take a sample. It doesn't hurt. This will then be analysed to look for any abnormal cells. Not all lumps are cancerous it may just be a cyst, but due to your strong family history you are doing the right thing in getting it investigated. Try not to worry.

The most the doc will probably do is biopsy the lump, which usually includes extraction of a piece of it with a needle (called a "needle" biopsy) then he may do some blood work to check a certain level, when if high, detects cancer. Just be calm and patient, and keep praying. I will keep praying for you. Most cancers, when caught soon enough, are highly treatable, so keep your head up and just know that there's too much more of your life to live to give up, if it is worst case scenario.

Your doctor will refer you to the hospital if they think it could be something more than a cyst for example. Breast cancer in men is not unheard of but is VERY RARE. Regardless of family history you should wait to see what the doctor says before you worry any more than you already are. My partner had a lump and after a while she went to the doctors and it turned out to be a cyst which ultimately went on its own. Hope it turns out well for you.

you will be sent to a specialist for examination but your docotr should be able to run a blood test with you getting the results by the end of the week. don't panic just yet it could be anything. i found a lump a couple of years ago and it turned out to be scar tissue from breaking my ribs years before. it could also be a benign cyst or a herniated muscle. you're doing the right thing to go to your doctor..

your doc should send u for a biopsy, depends on the lump, does it move around or is it just a solid lump, my last biopsy was a simple needle as the lump was moving, i had it removed an it was benign, Ive had 8 removed up to now and have the all clear, well done for spotting it and don't worry too much, its a pain waiting game on nhs, i went private as i couldn't cope with waiting.my brother has had lumps in his chest an never had them removed as he had a scan and they said just swollen glands or ducts, although he did say they checked his armpits too as this is more common place. hope all goes well for you xx
