Do you feel peace is "taking the easy way out"? Or is it actually harder work than waging war?

great idea in theory, however, we tried that during the carter and the clinton administration and it failed. during the time we sit back and try to make peace it seems nice, but what goes on during this period is extremist groups get stronger. these are the people behind terrorist attacks. peace seems easy, but conflict is needed to get there. people may oppose war or conflict, but maybe this scenario will help people understand.

in your hometown someone dies every night due to some brutal murder. this scares us to the point where we cannot walk outside without fear. now what do we do? try to make peace with this serial killer or seek him out with all the resources we have to stop friends, neighbors, family members and yourself from living in constant fear of being the next victim. of course we try to find this brutal murderer and ensure people in your town are safe.

now put this on a global scale. we have to go after these people and stop what they are doing before something terrible happens. do you think if we offered a peace deal with Osama Bin Laden that he would say, "Oh, that's a great idea. From now on we shall live together in harmony." Doubt that happens.

hey, i don't want anyone to die. i wish all people could just hang out and drink a a beer on the world's front porch and live in perfect harmony. world peace is the highest thing on my wish list. but until then...find the people that don't want that and remove them from world society now.

I agree 100% with Shadow above, that religion can be split into 2 categories: cults (eg christianity & islam) & philosophies (eg bhuddism) Cults are the dangerous kind that have created wars and bloodshed throughout the history of mankind. A philosophical belief system like bhuddism doesn't start wars.

I would have to say it's nice on paper, but doesn't hold water in realty.
