The Group of 8 (G8) is made up of the heads of state of eight industrialized countries in the world (US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia plus the European Union). The leaders have been meeting annually since 1975 to discuss issues of importance, including the information highway, crime and terrorism.
