Generally everyone has their own opinion on how life works.

Whether it be in terms of how happiness is "truly" achieved, how society works and our own personal involvement in it, fate and/or destiny, or just how we base our life so we can continue to live without falling into confusion about where we stand.

Right at this moment, I have begun to lose my own grip on how life works as I am probably entering a new phase in life.

What is true happiness? Is it gained by love? Money? Freedom of Mind? Why does it seem mere tangible things causes enlightenment?

I don't know anymore. Or rather, I don't have my own opinions of how life works.

What's your general opinion on how life works?

And why are so many people so worried about the number of points they can get on yahoo answers?

I have been at points in my life where I felt like nothing matered anymore... there was no purpose, I lost, for all intensive purposes, my soul/heart, who I was.

But it is not lost, its still in you, its who you are, you just have to find it again... True happiness, i feel, is being true to who you are and what you believe, no mater what anyone else might think.

Stay true to your beliefs, no mater what, listen to others, but if it doesn't feel right, dont sway.

Yes, tangible things can feel like enlightenment (I love my phone), but the enlightenment, comes from within, with or without the.. phone.. so to speak. Take some time to listen to the flowers (they can sing, and you can hear it, really), nature is always a grounding force when lost. If you have a spot, a park, someplace you love... go there, and just listen. Life is about sticking to your beliefs, whatever they may be, especially, if they involve appreciating all other life.

For happiness, it's important to focus on what you can give of yourself to others. This doesn't mean it has to be unpleasant for you or take away from you (although that's better than not giving).
It can be a special talent like singing, or being a good listener or helping kids or adults.
Another part of happiness is taking care of yourself and growing personally. Read some books about personal development or spiritual growth. Exercise and don't overeat. Try to eat right most of the time. Also try doing somethings that you really want to do but have been afraid to do. Don't let other people define who you are. Either Bill Cosby or George Burns or both said "I don't know what the secret to success is, but the secret to failure is trying to please everybody."
Having close genuine relationships is another thing. Be honest and real with people.
Also go out away from civilizaton once in a while. It helps get you back in touch with reality. After all, our cities are a phony reality built on top of reality, with all kinds of illusions built into them.
Be a person of excellent character. If you keep it up, you'll notice you'll start having friends with character also.
These are just some things I've found, but I'm still trying to figure out a lot of it myself. Thanks for the question.

These are the thoughts primarily leading us to accept the existence of a wisdom behind our creation.

Happiness is a mental situation that we can maintain at any level of life. I started practicing it since the last 12 years. I am not saying I can maintain the level at all 100% situations but I am able to live a stress free life almost at every situations.

The aim in life I am heading for is knowing myself. There is a world much wider than the whole universe within us. We get attracted by the world outside and do not try to know the inner personality and his visions.

I think the life is made so cryptic by our creator so that only the most wise will come out as winner.

Live to work, or work to live. People make a choice. You put work before personal life, I think you know what results you can expect in your personal life (that probably explains some of the stereotypes about IT people). At the same time, if you put your personal life before work, you know what to expect from your career. I guess you can't really have it all. Most people would try to choose the balance that works for them. It's not clear cut that it should be or has to be one way or the other. Don't you make those kinds of choices in IT between power and usability all of the time?

Life is a series of stages. The beginning stage teaches us trust so we may move to the next level. If we don't develop trust, life takes us down another path-chain reactions occur and our decisions influence where we go and what we get from life. To go from one stage to another is a transitional event. We may question our life path, rebel and change directions or accept what we have and move on to another life phase. How we perceive life regarding money or love impacts who we are and what we do. In the end objects are worthless. Our value is in human characteristics such as kindness. Money does serve a purpose, it helps us accomplish goals. Love propels us forward and supports individual growth. Societies restrict potential as we have to accept societal norms. On the other hand, societal rules and laws protect against deviant behaviour. If we were on a desert Island with our family, natural human instinct would create a complete social system. Free will is bound by society and our own unique emotions such a fear, compassion, and value system. Self-acceptance is the beginning seed to happiness

HOW life works is different for everyone! In the first part of your comments after the original question, you gave a very clear indication that you are very well aware of how all the basics work and function!

Its a mixture of all those things you mentioned in others, and those things are manipulated (or customized) to fit ones life. And at the same time one needs to be willing to adapt as well to them in exchange.

Your problem seems to be a very simple case of just loosing a little bit of your focus! No biggie! You're fine, keep living keep moving forward!

Best wishes!

One word "HARD" in order to have tangible things, for example the computer that you are using came about through "Blood, Sweat & Tears" one way or the other.

Life works hard in order to preserve, and "that is the nature of the beast" as people say.

You can look for long explanations or short ones, but it still works and even works out and seemingly stays fit enough to continue.
