That's what the doctor told me. I had cramps in my sides so bad at night that I would just drop to the floor.

Yes, unless it's severe or accompanied by bleeding. By the time you're done, a tiny PERSON is going to come out of there. It should almost go without saying that your abdomen blowing up like a balloon to make room for another human being would involve some discomfort. The uterus has to stretch since the baby is in there, but everything else has to move around to make room, too. If you're concerned, check with your doctor just in case.

Discomfort and some cramping can be normal. I had cramping when I was pregnant, and my doctor was very conserned. Mine was also accompanied with some spotting, but my doctor was more conserned with the cramping. He said it could be a sign that the placenta "isn't happy" In my case, I had a cronic abruption, where the placenta is becoming slightly detached. Mention it to your doctor.

When I was pregnant with my daughters, I had some abdominal cramping due to the ligaments stretching out to make room :)

My doctor told me that cramping can be normal. It is your uterus expanding to fit your baby that is growing. If it becomes severe, talk to your doctor.
