Yes, Lupus can cause lesions in the brain as can, high blood pressure, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke, aneurysm, tumors, MS, abscess, meningitis, migraines, HIV and Lyme disease. I'm sure there are many others that I have not mentioned here.
Another thing that can cause lesions are head injuries. If one fell as a child they may not remember having a head injury, or perhaps they were in an accident as an adult. Lesions from a brain injury can worsen with age.

A brain "lesion" is usually any brain injury. There are a lot of causes from bleeding from an aneurysm, stroke, or Alzheimer's, or infection with cryptococcus, CMV, West Nile Virus, nvCreutzfeld-Jakob - a prion disease, or even parasites.

Since you asked 'lesions', so there are many. Start with tumors or neoplasms. There can be primary brain tumor, or secondary due to metastasis. The primary brain tumor can be further classified from the origin, e.g if from meninges then it can be meningioma.
The other lesion could be due to trauma.
some are due to infection, like cysticercosis, tuberculoma etc etc.

Migraine headaches, or could be congenital (born with it). Lesions have been found in HIV positive patients as well.
