I want to use my TV as a monitor. I have a windows XP Home desktop. I don't want to install a video card. And I would like to use an s-video or video cable.

if your video card or computer has an s-video cable then get an s-video to rca cable adapter. then you can just plug it into your tv. you should find one of those at radio shack

Chances are, if you don't already have a video cable connection on your computer, it can't be done without installing a video card that has it. Your onboard video or video card needs to have "video out" support. Some laptops have this capability but without the port, and in that case an S-Video or RCA to VGA adapter would work. But an adapter won't work properly unless the video card/onboard video has this feature.

The Svideo would be on the video card. Its a small red round plug. If you have one of those on the back of your PC, it will plug into your TV's AV. You would have to purchase the cord though.. If you dont have a plug for it, then you will need to buy a new video card.
