Yes. Its highly possible. The best way around it is install Antivirus software on both computers first and run a full scan of your computer before you do any copying of files. There are some trial Antivirus software available from www.download.com

yes if you transfer the file that contain the virus,
but technical speaking, the chances for that infection is little as most viruses stays at the core files of the operating system so its not likely to be transferred to another computer unless you want to move a major components from the infected computer

It depends on what kind of virus and which computer has the virus. But most PC viruses are embedded within files which means that if you transfer an infected file the target computer will be infected.
