why is it so hard to follow through with something? To say your going to do something and then actually do it? Is it just being lazy or selfish or what?

additional info:

I am not talking about myself. I am talking about others. I only commit to the things that are important to me because I know I am likely to blow off things that aren't that important to me. But I get sooo disappointed and discouraged in others when they say they will do something and don't. I have almost come to expect it and am becoming more and more pessimistic because of it. How do you stay realistic and still believe in people?

it could be that you lack conviction that what is it you should do is important to you because if it was, the chances are that you would do it.

For example...lets say you really want something at Nordstroms. Mom is with you and she is in a pretty good mood, you know that if you stay on her good side, the chances are she would buy you the item that you really want.

So what do you do? You certainly would not get on her bad side would you? Why, because if you pissed her off, she would not get you what you want, so if you know that if you just follow through with being nice, you will get what you want.

Was it hard for you to do it? NO! because it was something you really wanted, like that pair of jeans that really shows off your as*.

So if it is in your best interests from your point of view, you would likely do it, but if it something your parents force you to do, then you are not convinced it is something that benefits you, so you wont.

Is it selfish...of course. Lazy...possibly, like cleaning your room, or mowing the grass. We don't like being told what to do, so when we are...following through is difficult at best...unless we really want something then we would do it.

Agree?

When you say you are going to something and then actually do it, then it is called courageous , a act of focused mind. Why the act should be called lazy or selfish any way!!(If that act does not harm anyone directly or indirectly!!)

You're simply a bad person. But it's not your fault.
Very likely, it's genetic.
Your parents always planned to have a child.
But, they never got around to it.
That's why you're adopted.
The "seed of demonic possession" was passed along by your biological mother.
Unlike your parents, she planned to remain a virgin.
But, she didn't get around to it, either.

when you say u are going to do something, it is probably because you have a sudden burst of momentum or optomism, but sometimes that all disapears. it is understandable

It's hard for everyone. You just have to do it. It gets easier after a while.
