House on the Rock has become more of an amusement park of sorts. I would imagine this is because the tour is long and little kids need something else to do while others take the tour. If you're into Frank Lloyd Wright this is an excellent tour. His architecture is explained and you can see students actually at work. Spring Green is a beautiful place which is why he chose to build there.

I went a long time ago, but still remember how crazy it is. It seems to have everything in it, unbeliveable for a house. The view from the room over the rock is amazing, worth going. I want to take my husband, so I do think it is worth seeing once. If you are going to Spring Green, try to see the American Players Theatre, that is so cool http://www.springgreen.com/ecom/link.asp?go=767
Enjoy your trip

I went there with my family a few years ago.

We enjoyed it. It takes a few hours to go through if you are actually going to LOOK at things (meaning not just walk through).

I'm not sure I would take a trip to go see it ALONE, but if you are vacationing or passing through the area, yes, it's nice for spending a few hours at.
