......., and its wide occurrence today in some cultures in which such activity is not taboo suggests that the capacity of an individual to respond erotically to any sort of stimulus, whether it is provided by another person of the same or opposite sex, is basic in the species.
Alfred Kinsey, Sexual Behaviour in the Human Male (1948)
If this is true then does this negate the need for religions and cultures to say 'it says here' or 'it says there' that homosexuality is wrong. Surely homosexulity is a base need in people and not controlable nor should it have to be??????

Note to invisable - debate the issue, sure. However to totally miss the point and go into some some of bigotted rant - no. Look at your FACTS and what is being asked before you attempt to answer.

It was only lately that homosexuality had a term even. I believe with in the last 100 years. It just was. It was in Native American cultures (and honored) as does/did many other native tribes. Many religions have problems with sex for fun and since gay sex can't produce children, it is solely for fun. We have to remember though, being gay or straight isn't just about sex, there are emotions and mental attractions also. Also, I always use the information that if animals can be gay (and its been proven) why can't humans?

Totally true.

Looking at the history of sex and sexuality going all the way back to ancient times, homosexuality became a taboo because of focus of societies on procreation...increasing the population of their tribe so it would be stronger in numbers than neighboring tribes. In some cultures it has even been embraced. It is not controllable nor should it have to be controlled, I agree.

Mithrandir is right ... there was no word "homosexual" nor much fuss about it until the psychologists starting talking about it a little over a hundred years ago.

Gayness is not only found in over 100 animal species, but has been part of - sometimes widespread - in countries all over the world. The spread of discrimination against it pretty much follows the spread of the discriminating ideas of the religious right, who believe their deity is the only real one.

It's a form of sexual behavior.

Biologically speaking the only reason for sex is to reproduce, so any other method is wrong. This is the stand the "moral minority" takes.

Morally sex is sex and if it is between two adult, and consenting individuals then that is their will, and no one else's business.

If you can accept people licking other people's feet, anal sex, B&D, S&M, dressing up, role playing, and all the other aspects of sex, then this is just one other form. In this context it is neither wrong or right, and no one else's business.

Homosexuals will not die if their need for homosexual sex is not met. Heterosexuals, also, will not die if their need for heterosexual sex is not met.

Food, water, air are base needs for humans to survive and exist. If sex is to be categorized as a base need, the only sex that would fall into that category would be heterosexual sex. Because heterosexual sex produces more people. The human race needs people to continue to be born in order for humankind to continue to exist.

Whether sexual urges are toward the opposite sex, same sex, children, incestuous, dead bodies, animals, torture, rape excetra, they need to be controlled.
Would you rather live in a, if it feels good do it society, or a society that is intelligent enough to say that certain urges are bad and need to be controlled for the better of the society as a whole. Just because certain individuals like to engage in certain activities, their choice to do so does not automatically make that choice right.
Many people who like to have sex with children do not believe they are doing anything wrong. "Pedophiles are often ego-syntonic, i.e., comfortable with who they are, and don't think there is anything wrong with them." (Pedophilia. DSM-IV-TR. American Psychiatric Association)

Governments, cultures and religions always have and always will legislate morality.
Governments, cultures and religions have stated, murder is wrong. Stealing is wrong. Murder and stealing shows an individual who has bad morals.

We need morals. Not the fake science we have today which encourages the public to get in touch with impulses, as if they were automatically enlightened by doing so.

The ancient Greeks were not exclusive or life time homosexuals. As todays homosexuals claim to be. The ancient Greeks did not approve of exclusive homosexual behavior or of homosexual behavior between adult men. They tolerated love between adult men and adolescent boys in a non-carnal, aesthetic, and spiritual context, and to the extent that boy-love did not threaten the 'oikos," i.e. family. The ancient Greeks did not approve of feminine men or anal sex and criminalized a variety of homosexual behaviors.( Norton R.- the Myth of the modern homosexual: queer history and the search for cultural unity)

No. the theory that it replaced into comes from a false impression with regard to the character of sexuality. interior the West interior the twenty first Century we see our sexuality as being chop up alongside a gay/Heterosexual axis. that's why there could be discrimination against Homosexuals, as a results of fact we view homosexuality no longer as some thing human beings do yet as some thing human beings 'are'. historic Greece replaced into appreciably distinctive. they did no longer recognize a sexual chop up between gay/Heterosexual. They chop up sexuality down a Ruler/governed line. Their sexual intercourse replaced into woven into their social hierarchy. In a Greek sexual relationship there replaced into constantly a individual who did the penetrating (the Ruler) and the guy who replaced into penetrated (the governed). ideally the Ruler is usually a loose person Male. The concept of historic Greece as sexually liberated comes from the governed class, for many of background after historic Greece the single being penetrated replaced into constantly a girl and constantly a spouse, in historic Greece the governed class did comprise women human beings, yet in addition coated have been youthful boys and slaves. There are some good factors of historic Greek sexual morality. It wasn't enforced via regulation; and gender replaced into much less of a controversy however the morality replaced into additionally intensely infused with their capability kin. It replaced into supremely sexist. Homosexuals weren't persecuted as a results of fact they did no longer exist, it only wasn't how they observed sexuality, it wasn't how they labeled their sexuality however the way they did see sexuality replaced into somewhat, on the whole, no greater effective than ours and in some factors plenty worse. Addition: it somewhat is atypical that a pair of the solutions seem to have self belief the asker has puzzled historic Greece with historic Rome. i think of it would be observed that it replaced into historic Rome that first set up the assumption of the affection between a guy and a girl being the appropriate love. It replaced into Rome that first chop up from the Greek city states on the undertaking of intercourse between genders.
