The defintion of broadband is: in general electronics and telecommunications is a term which refers to a signal or circuit which includes or handles a relatively wide range of frequencies

Broadband Internet access, often shortened to "broadband Internet" or just "broadband", is a high data-transmission rate internet connection. DSL and cable modem, both popular consumer broadband technologies, are typically capable of transmitting 256 kilobits per second or more, starting at approximately four times the speed of a modem using a standard digital telephone line.

Broadband Internet access became a rapidly developing market in many areas in the early 2000s; one study found that broadband Internet usage in the United States grew from 6% in June 2000 to over 30% in 2003.[1]

Modern consumer broadband implementations, up to 30 Mbit/s, are several hundred times faster than those available at the time of the popularization of the Internet (such as ISDN and 56 kbit/s) while costing less than ISDN and sometimes no more than 56 kbit/s; though performance and costs vary widely between countries

DSL is a high-speed broadband connection that is convenient, fast and capable of carrying very 'heavy' files over the internet. Shop, Play games, download music, DSL allows you to enjoy your internet experience, something which ordinary dial-up connections cannot do. So, go ahead and unleash your high-speed access.

Airtel Data Service is powered by DSL technology.

DSL provides blazing-fast, secure Internet access and can be delivered to both homes and to businesses. Delivered right through a regular telephone line, data rates can vary from 128Kb to 8Mb per second depending on the type and cost of the service. DSL can be delivered to both homes and to businesses.

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology provides instant Internet and network access at speeds up to 50 times faster than a 28.8Kbps modem on a standard analog phone line. There are no dial-up delays, no busy signals. What used to take minutes or hours to download will take just seconds or minutes.

With DSL Internet Service you can download graphics-heavy files, large documents, software, photos, email attachments, and more, instantly. It's perfect for real-time interactive multimedia, broadcast quality video, distance learning, and video-on-demand. And because DSL Internet Service sends data and voice over the same line, you can talk on the phone while you are online.

It's also a service that you don't have to dial into. Just turn on your PC, open a browser, and you're ready to surf. (No more hearing those annoying beeps and tones, then waiting to be connected. You're always connected whenever you wish to!). Beyond Internet access, DSL also has the ability to carry additional phone lines and entertainment services using the same pair of wires.

High-speed Internet access through DSL, changes your Internet experience perceptibly.

I personally have dial-up and it sucks! However, I use computers w/ broadband on a regular basis. The difference is undescribable. I would highly recommend "broadband." In my opinion, cable is the cheaper option versus DSL. For one, cable companies install the whole thing, cheaply (usually under $100). DSL's equipment is well over $200 in most cases, and installation is solely up to you. Cable is usually faster. The only downfall w/ cable is if you don't have cable tv, most companies will charge you an add'l charge. Any other specific questions?

in the beginning i had the dial up connection. it did not worked well and the speed is low to the maximam extent u can able to achieve only 56 kbbs. now i am having broadband. here the speed is 100 kbs which is definitely impossible in dial up.
so i prefer u to have the broadband.

That question would be literally impossible to answer. There are so many types, you just can't list them all.

The most common ones are ADSL and Cable.

ADSL uses phone lines as ways to send Bits (Data). While Cable uses Cable and TV signal / lines to send the same data.

Broadband means "fast speed" in colloquial terms.
