I don't have braces, but I did get my lip pierced on the 11th... the back of the piercing rubbed so bad on my teeth and gums that I had to take the piercing out because it HURT so bad because it got caught on my teeth. I imagine that if it got stuck in your braces it would hurt even worse. I would simply call up your dentist and ask what they think, but from expereince, it might not be a good idea.

You CAN... but the piercer will strongly advise against it, as there's a high chance fo getting the backing stuck to your braces and ripping it out of the hole- a very painful thing to risk happening.
