there won't be anytime soon, because the dominant parties are still the democrats and republicans. now, if most everyone was independent, candidates who aren't worried about issues of debating taxes, role of government, etc would be elected, giving citizens probably a bigger chance of deciding where our tax $ is.
the problem isn't really honesty vs. politics; instead, it's more like what the parties stand for and how it's dividing the country.

NO. we have built this system to a republic type of society, not a democracy. since the day we stepped foot on this great land of ours, it has been about personal advances, and personal relief that have made us the state of the "haves" and "have nots" Those that have are at the advantages part in history where there is no turning back!

If people wanted to know the truth, they would be better at balancing their checkbooks and in less credit debt. This country is run by it's citizens and it shows what lousy bookkeepers we are. We can't even take care of the little money they let us have!

Unfortunately, that may never happen until people start looking at what the government is really doing & stop looking the other way. People need to have the government start telling us what is going on. Until that happens, the government, both Democrats and Republicans, will continue to aid big business and their own pockets because they know no one is watching them....

wherever you are, whatever political environment you are in, there will always be a head to govern the country. if it is up to individual citizen to decide what to do, there will be zillions of idea and nothing will be done.
